We would like to provide you with comprehensive information about the Student Union’s catering services. For us, eating is more than just consuming food – it is enjoyment, cultural heritage, socialising and responsibility for the environment all rolled into one:
At the Studierendenwerk, we are fully committed to ensuring the optimal quality and origin of all products, which are freshly prepared for you every day by our more than 200 employees. Our canteens and cafeterias are a central place for social interaction and an integral part of student life. Environmental protection, animal welfare and sustainability play a key role for us: we can all contribute greatly to protecting our environment through our eating habits. Accordingly, we offer our guests a diverse selection, label particularly climate-friendly dishes and are committed to adhering to high animal welfare standards when purchasing.
We are always open to questions and suggestions and look forward to hearing from our guests – this has already resulted in many great projects!

🍽️ Mensa & Cafeteria Basics at FAU
- 🍽️ The Mensa offers affordable meals with several daily options (meat-based, vegetarian, often vegan), plus sides and dessert.
- 💶 Meals are subsidized and therefore very student-friendly.
- ☕ Smaller cafeterias & cafés across campus offer snacks, sandwiches, and coffee.
- 💳 Payment is cashless using your FAUcard (student ID), which can be topped up at machines.
